Privacy policy

Lawn Lizard is a product of ChikoUSA. This policy covers thelawnlizard.com and the Lizard Layout Tool on it.

Only what you send us, plus the ordinary record every web server keeps.

• A quote request: your name, your email address, and if you fill them in, your phone number and your notes. The notes are a free text box, so whatever you write in it comes to us as you wrote it.
• An estimate PDF: your name and your email address, plus the design you drew.
• The design, when you send one: the address you typed or picked, the latitude and longitude of the point on the map, the panel layout, and the production figures we worked out from them. While you draw, your browser sends the map point and the layout to our server to work out the estimate; nothing is kept from that unless you send a request.
• Server records: our web server logs the usual request line, which includes your IP address, your browser type, the pages you asked for and the page you came from. We use them to keep the site up and to look into problems.

We set no cookies and run no analytics. Nothing on this site tracks you, profiles you, or follows you to another site. If that ever changes we will say so in section 7 and on this page before it starts.

To answer you. Your details are used to prepare your estimate, to reply to your request, and to follow up by phone or email about the Lawn Lizard. Server records are used to run and secure the site.

We do not sell your information and we do not share it for advertising.

A quote request or an estimate request is emailed to us at info@chikousa.com, with your address set as the reply-to so we can answer you directly. If that email cannot be delivered at the moment you send it, the request is written to a private file on our own server so it is not lost, and we forward it from there.

These are the services involved in running the site:

• Google Maps Platform (Google LLC), for address suggestions, geocoding, and the satellite and 3D imagery in the Lizard Layout Tool. Your browser talks to Google directly, so Google receives your IP address, what you type into the address box and the part of the map you are looking at, under Google’s Privacy Policy and Google’s Terms of Service.
• PVGIS, the European Commission’s solar data service. Our server sends it coordinates and panel settings to work out production. It is never sent your name or your contact details.
• Open-Meteo, for ground elevation in the 3D view. Your browser sends it the map point’s coordinates, so it sees those and your IP address, and nothing else.
• Resend, which delivers the email carrying your request to us.
• Amazon Web Services, which hosts the site. The server is in the United States.

We also disclose information where the law requires it, such as a valid legal request.

Quote and estimate requests are kept for as long as we need them to follow up with you about your project and to keep a record of what we quoted.

The fallback file on our server is a holding area, not an archive: a row is cleared from it once it has been forwarded to us.

Server records are kept for a short period, for security and troubleshooting.

You can ask us to delete what you sent at any time. See section 6.

Write to info@chikousa.com or call 1-800-948-5390 to see what you sent us, correct it, or have it deleted. Say which email address you used so we can find it.

California residents. If the California Consumer Privacy Act applies to us, it gives you the right to know what personal information we have collected about you, to have it deleted, to correct it, and not to be treated differently for asking. We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of. Use the same email address or phone number above to make a request.

We do not track you across other websites, so a Do Not Track signal from your browser changes nothing about what we do. We honor Global Privacy Control signals the same way: there is nothing here to sell or share.

When you use the Lizard Layout Tool, Google may collect information about your use of Google services under its own policy, linked in section 4. That is Google’s collection, not ours, and we do not receive it.

If we ever add analytics, this section will name the service and say what it measures before it is turned on.

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has sent us something, write to us and we will delete it.

The site is served over HTTPS, and the request records on our server are readable only by us. No method of transmission or storage is perfect, so please do not send us anything sensitive through the notes box.

If this policy changes we post the new text here with a new effective date, and for a material change we flag it at the top of this page for 30 days. The effective date of the text you are reading is at the top.
